Before anything is quoted, our engineers read your drawing, list what is ambiguous, and send you the questions. We reverse-engineer parts with no drawing, translate specifications into shop-floor Chinese, and check that what you asked for can actually be built the way you drew it.

01  /  What we do

A quotation that arrives with no questions attached is a quotation from someone who has not read the drawing.

Roughly a third of the drawings we receive contain something that cannot be built as drawn, or that will be built wrongly because a note means one thing in Denver and another in Hebei. We find those before the price is fixed, not during fabrication.

We read the drawing and send you the questions

Every drawing is reviewed by an engineer who has bought this class of equipment before. Ambiguities, missing views, conflicting notes and impossible tolerances are listed and sent to you in writing before we quote.

We translate the specification, not just the words

Weld symbols, surface finishes, tolerance callouts and material grades are converted into shop-floor instructions in Chinese, and the translation is checked by the same engineer who reviewed the drawing. This is where most quality problems are actually created.

We reverse-engineer what has no drawing

Send the worn part, or photographs with measurements at the points we specify. We scan or measure it, reconstruct the as-new geometry, and mark which surfaces we inferred rather than measured. Nothing is cut until you approve the reconstruction in writing.

We check the design against what the shop can actually do

Plate sizes, rolling capacity, machine envelopes, heat-treatment furnace sizes and crane limits are real constraints. We tell you when a design needs splitting, and what the split does to cost and delivery, before you commit.

We advise on material substitution — and say when not to

Chinese equivalents to ASTM, EN and JIS grades are not always equivalent. Where a substitution is safe we propose it and show the comparison; where it is not, we say so and quote the imported material instead.

We keep the drawings yours

Drawings, patterns and reconstructions produced under your order are yours. They are not shown to other customers and not used for other work. We sign your NDA before you send anything.

02  /  The cost of skipping it

What it costs when nobody reads the drawing first.

None of these are hypothetical. They are the reasons customers came to us after buying direct, and every one of them was cheaper to prevent than to correct.

Every row here is prevented by the same thing: an engineer reading the documents properly, in both languages, before money is committed. That is what this service is.

Engineering support — common questions

Do you charge separately for this?

On equipment orders it is part of how we work and is included. As a standalone service — reviewing drawings for an order you are placing yourself — it is quoted as a fixed fee per drawing package. See Inspection & Expediting, where drawing and ITP review is module B.

Are you a design house?

No, and we will not pretend to be. We do not stamp designs or take design liability. We review, translate, reverse-engineer and advise on buildability. Where a design needs a professional engineer, that stays with your engineer or your EPC.

What do you need to reverse-engineer a part?

Ideally the part itself. Failing that, photographs with a scale in frame and measurements at the points we nominate — we will tell you exactly which ones. The output is a dimensional reconstruction you approve before anything is cut.

Can you work from a scanned or hand-drawn sketch?

Yes. A large share of what we build starts as a sketch or a marked-up photograph. We turn it into a dimensioned drawing, send it back for approval, and build only to the approved version.

Will you tell us if our own specification is wrong?

Yes. If your specification conflicts with the duty you have described, we raise it before quoting. We would rather lose the order than build to a specification we believe will fail.
